Plans aim to address a high number of casualties along this route whilst providing safer, alternative travel options for Headingley and Hyde Park’s residents.
We want to make improvements to the A660 between Shaw Lane junction in Headingley to St Mark's Road in Woodhouse. The route has a history of collisions so we need to make it safer for all road users.
Plans include:
By improving the design of our streets people and communities will be put first, before vehicles. More space for people, and less for cars helps people feel safe travelling in greener, healthier ways. Find out more and feedback at https://a660.commonplace.is/
Thank you for taking part in the consultation which closed on 3rd August 2018 and for providing valuable feedback on the route from Adel to Leeds via Weetwood and Headingley.
We are taking your feedback into consideration and are carrying out further analysis and work. We are continuing to work with local residents on the proposals for Lawnswood Roundabout and Otley Old Road. In addition we have launched a second round of public consultation on plans for the Holt Lane junction, a specific improvement that could be delivered more quickly than others along the route, allowing the benefits to be seen earlier.
You can view the proposals and feedback at https://a660qtc.commonplace.is/schemes/proposals/proposals-for-the-holt-lane-and-otley-road-junction/details .
The deadline for feedback on Holt Lane is Saturday 20th October 2018. We aim to come back for further public consultation with our updated proposals for the remainder of the route in early 2019.
If you have any questions about this proposal or any of the Connecting Leeds Programme please contact the team directly via email at connectingleeds@leeds.gov.uk .

We have had over 6,000 contributions to this consultation and there is still a little time in which to have your say.
Reminder that consultation on these proposals closes on 3rd August so please make sure you have submitted all the feedback you want to provide by this date and shared the sites and this Newsletter.
After the consultation closes we will be working hard to collate and analyse all the feedback provided. A report will be published in due course summarising the results and how people feel about the proposals. All the feedback we have received will inform any ongoing work on each of the proposals.
What happens nextOver the next 12 months the proposals for the different locations are likely to progress at different speeds with some moving more quickly towards a preferred solution with more detailed designs. This is because the funding available from the Department for Transport for this scheme must be spent by the end of March 2021. There are also logistical and practical challenges and Leeds City Council need to ensure any construction work is phased across the city.
The proposals for most locations will be subject to further rounds of consultation on more detailed proposals. Construction on some schemes may begin in early 2019. We will let you know when there is further information available.
Please help us with this final push:In order to give the public and other stakeholders more time we have decided to extend the deadline for this particular round of consultation by 7 days to Friday 3rd August 2018.
Connecting Leeds team hosting final summer events
The Connecting Leeds team have been out on the street talking to members of the public about the plans to transform the bus network and Leeds city centre.A team of outreach specialists have been on the streets of Leeds handing out over 25,000 leaflets, flyers and posters to members of the public encouraging them to take part.
On Sunday 15 July shoppers, visitors and tourists were invited into a pop up park to relax and take part in the consultation. A huge double sided screen was used to present concept designs demonstrating what the city centre could look like if the proposals are delivered.
Final push for help promoting engagement
The Connecting Leeds team need your help promoting the engagement. We want everyone in Leeds to have their say on the future of transport in Leeds. Here are a few ways you can help;
Thank you for contributing to the consultation Leeds City Council are hosting on proposals to improve the Adel to Leeds bus route. Over 300 members of the public and local stakeholders attended 5 public drop in sessions along the Adel to Leeds route over a ten day period.
Please help us promote awareness and engagement by telling your friends, family and co-workers about the consultation which ends on the 27 July 2018.
It’s not too late to offer further comments on the proposals or agree/reply to other people’s comments. Make sure to click here to check out the proposals for Leeds city centre including the Corn Exchange, Headrow and several other key gateways into the city centre.
